| May 11, 2018 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Kieran Wilder led a Bulldog sweep to win the 3,200, and Niah Brass won the 3,200, Maddie Morgan the triple jump and Elaine Huang the high jump to lead the Bulldog girls on day one of the 4A Region 1 Track and Field Championships in Coeur d’Alene.

Sisters Hannah and Paige Davidson each cleared 9-1 in the pole vault, with Hannah winning on misses as each punched their ticket to state with a top two finish.

The 4x200 team of Ciera Bailey, Heather Yunek, Valerie Wickbolt and Jazmin Stockton finished second, as did the medley relay team of Bailey, Wickbolt, Bailee Klopman and Yunek, each earning a spot at state.

“The girls scored a healthy amount of points. They have a solid lead, and should continue to add to that. They have a good shot at winning regional title,” said head coach Matt Brass. “Our boys running is really strong, and will need to overcome the field events. It will be close, T.J. (Davis) has all four of his events, so there’s some points there.”

The boys medley relay team of Julian Barajas, Ammon Ollerton, Sloan Woodward and Kyle Almeida finished first, Ollerton was second in the high jump and Gabriel Merithew was second in the 3,200 to earn spots at state.

Robbie Johnson cleared a personal best 11-7 in the pole vault to finish third, and Garrett Chandler was third in the long jump.

Victoria Aylward was second in the shot to earn a spot at state for the girls.

Day two of the meet continues today in Lewiston.
