There is one God, one mediator for all of mankind

Having recently visited Washington, D.C., I was amazed at the beautiful memorials and the fascinating museums.

We had a great time with family going up and down the capital mall yet, underneath the facade of our beautiful capital you could almost feel your feet getting wet from the swamp swirling just below the surface.

The division, slander, hate, backstabbing, gossip, character assassinations going on day in and day out.

Yet there are still some honorable politicians serving with integrity who love God and are committed to biblical truth.

The answer to the problems in Washington, Boise, or even Bonner County is not to become bitter and cynical.

The answer is to communicate with our leaders and encourage them as well as lovingly calling them to task when we see compromise.

The answer is to run for office yourself to bring honesty and truth to the political scene.

The answer is to vote intelligently on the issues and vote consistent with biblical truth.

The ultimate answer is to pray for our leaders on a daily basis remembering that God is above all, including our political leaders.

Let us all commit to pray for God to give us leaders who uphold truth and recognize that they serve God first, others second, and themselves last. (1 Timothy 2:1-5)

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.
