1. In order to make a difference, one has to step up and put oneself forward.

We still have much further to go in keeping our tax burden low through fiscally responsible spending, while weaning ourselves off of dependency on federal funds, and in ensuring the protection of our civil liberties.

2. I come from a working class background and have the experiences of an average citizen.

My father was a railroad worker, and my husband was a mechanic, who worked primarily in the mining industry, and so I know the challenges that working families in natural resource-based economies face today.

3. I am not overly familiar with the proposed smelter, but I would hope that they receive input from citizens, landowners who may be impacted, and local government entities, then address any concerns raised.

In general, I view this as more of a local land-use issue, rather than a state issue.

4. Economic development and unemployment.

5. Addressing the decline in natural-resource based industries and employment, and what policies could be pursued to spur economic development in these areas.

6. Lack of response to media requests for interviews.

I prefer the opportunity to explain my positions in my own words, as opposed to my positions being filtered through media who often have editorial positions opposed to mine on the issues.

7. That I am always willing to listen to the voters, and do the best that I can to ensure that all of our district is represented.

8. No.

We do not need more public land locked up to beneficial use.

9. The underlying issue of the causes of the high cost of care needs to be studied, in order to determine what may be done to reduce the need for insurance and/or Medicaid.

10. Question: What is your position on accepting Federal funding as a substantial portion of the State’s budget?

Answer: I believe we need to wean ourselves off of federal funding, and the mandates that go along with it, by budgeting for fewer federal funds per year, and setting a goal for reduction from year-to-year.
