Memorial Day events outlined
SANDPOINT — A slate of events are on tap for the Memorial Day weekend, beginning today.
Today, volunteers will be locating the holes for the “aisle of flags” at Pinecrest and Lakeview cemeteries. Crews will begin at 9 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery and then head to Lakeview Cemetery.
On Friday, crews will place flags on the “aisle of flags” at both cemeteries, beginning at 9 a.m. at Pinecrest and then at Lakeview.
On Saturday, crews will place flags on veterans’ graves, beginning at 9 a.m. at Pinecrest, followed by Lakeview.
Those interested should bring along a screwdriver or similar tool to poke a hole in the sold to make placing the flags easier as well as a pair of gloves.
On Monday, Memorial Day:
Services will be held at 8 a.m. at Seneacquoteen Cemetery. Friends, family and especially veterans are invited to attend the fourth annual service. Veterans are invited to take part in the ceremony and are asked to be at the cemetery by 7:15 a.m. The cemetery is located nine miles from Highway 95 on W. Dufort Road.
Lineup for the Memorial Day service at Pinecrest Cemetery will begin at 9 a.m. with the ceremony starting at 10 a.m.
At Lakeview, lineup for the tribute begins at 1 p.m. with the ceremony starting at 1:30 p.m.
