| May 25, 2018 1:00 AM

Sandra Ann “Sandy” Schlotzhauer, 71, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Sandy was born in Los Angeles, California, to Donald and Anna Battenschlag. She graduated from La Habra High School. In 1963 she married Marty Schlotzhauer. They had two children which they began raising in Fountain Valley, and then moved to Corona, Calif.

During her time spent in Corona she worked as a bookkeeper, however, her most fulfilling role came from her teaching position with the Head Start program, which promotes the school readiness of children from low-income families.

She married Mike Pisetsky in 1992 in San Bernardino. They moved to North Idaho in 2008, and here she volunteered at the East Bonner County Library District helping tutor children.

Sandy was a teacher and child advocate. She enjoyed quilting, reading, writing, cooking, gardening and photography. Most of all she loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Kim (Darrin) Anselmo of Simi Valley, California; her son, Mark (Michelle) Schlotzhauer of Helena, Alabama; four grandchildren, Daniel, Nicholas, Alec, and Katelyn; one brother, Steve (Karen) Battenschlag of Sandpoint; nieces Tanya and Jill; and former spouse and friend, Mike Pisetsky of Sandpoint.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Sandra’s online memorial at lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
