Three new Bullpup track records set this season

SANDPOINT — A trio of fast performances resulted in three school records this year, as the Sandpoint Middle School track team capped their season recently with strong performances at the district meet.
Tori Pelkey, Emma Theilbahr, Sofia Platte and Piper Frank shaved more than two seconds off the Bullpup record in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:55.97, eclipsing the old record from 2007 held by Plaster, Van Dyk, Moe and Healey.
Destiny Lyons clocked a 15.86 in the 100 hurdles to break the previous mark of Taylor Ward (16.8) set in 2013.
Garrett Cox clocked an 11.47 in the 100 meters to beat the old SMS record of 11.7 held by Lenny Plaster. Cox’s mark would have earned him 7th place in the 4A state high school meet this year.
A host of other Bullpups fared well at the recent district meet, where the four teams in action took three firsts and one second.
The strong showing signify a bright future for Sandpoint High School track and field.
