My ex-neighbor, Jim Wolf, who was born and raised in Bonner County, and at one time years ago was a Bonner County supervisor, showed me a law that was passed dealing with the railroad coming through Bonner County.

Jim has since passed away but I believe this law is still on the books for Bonner County that states “the railroad trains can only operate in Bonner County from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with no more then 50 cars per train and cannot exceed 50 mph. If this law were enforced today the railroad would not need that second bridge they want to build to increase rail traffic.

When Jim Wolf showed me a copy of that law I wrote a letter to BNSF Railway Company and sent them a copy of that law. I received a certified letter from their attorneys with a letterhead that had listed ten partners stating, “I must cease and desist all further action regarding this or suffer legal ramifications from this law firm who represents BNSF Railway.” So being a cautious person and realizing I could not fight against this alone and just being one person I ceased and desist as they so bluntly requested.
