What you may not know.

Dan McDonald didn’t need to be your commissioner, he wasn’t looking for a job. He left a very good job to run for commissioner because he believed he could solve some of the problems he was hearing about. He heard from older people on fixed incomes who believed they would be taxed out of their homes. He heard from longtime residents who feared our culture was changing and our agricultural land was disappearing. He ran on three main points. Fixing the 2008 comp plan, cutting the budget and preserving the culture and rural nature of Bonner County. He has done that and more.

The personal attacks and misinformation have muddied this campaign. We believe the voters of Bonner County are smart. You know us. Dan has coached and mentored your children. You have worshiped with us or just enjoyed conversation over a beer. We have been in this community for over 20 years, involved in your charities and supporting this community any way we can. You will choose to re-hire Dan based on the man you know. It’s never been the way of this community to attack with such vigor. These tactics are a new normal and it’s sad. In the end there is little we can do to defend ourselves against the attacks. Please vote for what is best for the future of Bonner County. For the job of a commissioner and what that job is responsible for, not all these other side issues meant to distract.

KATHY McDONALD
