CASA seeks donations for Purse Party

| November 3, 2018 1:00 AM

Looking for a new purse?

You’ll want to head on over to North Idaho CASA’s Purse Party on Thursday, Nov. 15. You’ll not only have a chance to pick up a stylish new bag, but you’ll be helping out a great cause at the same time. The event takes place from 4-7 p.m. at the Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., Sandpoint.

The entry fee of $5 at the door will buy you a glass of wine and the chance to bid, buy or win designer handbags and gently used purses. Over 100 handbags will be featured. Fork in the Road catering will prepare lite bites to the guests who are encouraged to mingle and shop during the three-hour event.

CASA supports trained advocates for over 400 child abuse and neglect victims in North Idaho. Advocates investigate child protection cases, represent the child’s best interest in court and help to place them in safe homes with forever families. Through donations and fundraisers, CASA can actively work to train and support enough advocates to ensure that every child victim has a voice.

Janis Rust, CASA trainer, is happy to be part of this annual event in Sandpoint. “This tight-knit community is so generous, we appreciate the interest and support of our program. We all just love what CASA does for these kids.”

If you have slightly used or new purses you would like to donate, the following businesses have partnered with CASA as Purse Drop locations: Finan McDonald, Eve’s Leaves, Petal Talk and Cedar Street Bridge Public Market. Donated bags will be priced and sold at the event on Nov. 15.

Currently, the North Idaho CASA Program has 98 active advocates; however, 124 are needed to properly serve the growing number of child protective cases in the community. Through donations and fundraisers, like the Purse Party, CASA can actively work to train and support enough Advocates to ensure that every child victim has a voice.
