SANDPOINT — Five Bulldogs earned a spot on the 2018 All-Inland Empire League boys soccer team, as voted on recently by the league’s coaches.

Senior Dylan Baillie, who tallied a goal and two assists as a defender, was named Defensive Player of the Year. He excelled on balls in the air, and used his 6-4 frame and quickness to steal balls in passing lanes.

“He loves the 1 v 1 challenge in the air or on the ground and rarely gets beat,” said Bulldogs head coach Evan McNeley. “He’s coachable and fantastic with his timing. I hope he continues to play in college.”

Sophomore Chris Koch posted six goals and a team-best three assists, and got more and more dangerous in the attack as the season went along.

“He has great touch and awareness around the goal,” described McNeley. “The future in Sandpoint soccer is bright with new players such as Chris, who loves to play the game and it shows.”

Senior defender Tyler Moore earned a spot on the team, using good attacking skills to move the ball up from the back third and good passing skills to find teammates.

“A forward turned defender. Great team player, loves to play the game. An asset at any position,” lauded McNeley. “Extremely competitive. I hope he continues in college as well.”

Senior defender Curtis Hauck was named to the team, while earning his coach’s respect in the process.

“Curtis is the hardest working player on the team,” praised McNeley. “A true team first guy. Really coming into his game the more he plays.

Sophomore Zander Moore tallied a team-high 11 goals to go with one assist, and proved to be a handful on long balls, which he converted with some strong finishing.

“He loves to compete and play the game. Has great touch and awareness on the field,” said McNeley. “Can finish as well as play great defensive positions. He is one of the best on the field.”
