The U.S. Census website lists exactly five categories of race. They are: white, black (or African American), American Indian (or Alaska Native), Asian and Native Hawaiian (or other Pacific Islander). There is no listing or identification regarding male, female and/or LGBTQA as being a race, culture or ethnic group! So why is Ms. Wilson (West Bonner County School District No. 84) proposing a club based on races as identified per U.S. Census to study “culture and ethnicities” and then introducing men, women and LGBTQA which have nothing to do with her “defined” curriculum.

Is Wilson confused and ignorant, or does she have an alterior motive? Does she think that no one is paying attention to what outside special interest groups bring into our classrooms? These are pertinent questions our school board should have asked — and then gone to parents with this proposed plan rather than wimp out and just pass it along.

Our school board was elected to help set educational standards and give oversight so as to provide meaningful, science-based education to our children. This time they dropped the ball and approved an agenda based ideology disguised as an “ethnic study” that attempts to normalize deviant behaviors. This program is neither scholarly nor professional. Real gender identification issues should be addressed only by professionals, not in our schools by unqualified propagandists who aim to “progress society.”

An examination of our school educational scores indicates that rather than introducing progressive social agenda studies, our students would be better served with literacy and math tutoring classes.
