Man struck by car, injured
SPIRIT LAKE — A Post Falls driver has been charged with inattentive driving after he allegedly struck a pedestrian crossing Highway 41 in Spirit Lake on Thursday, Nov. 1.
Spirit Lake Police said Christopher Coleman, 19, was crossing the highway in the marked crosswalk with the advisory lights activated and flashing at about 6:25 p.m. Northbound traffic has stopped, and as Coleman proceeded across the intersection, Robert J. Scharff, 68, driving a blue 1991 Chevy pickup truck with trailer, failed to yield, striking him with his vehicle.
Fire and medical personnel responded to the scene and transported Coleman to Kootenai Health.
Alcohol or substance use is not believed to be a factor in this case, Spirit Lake Police said in a posting to their Facebook page.
