Accidents snarl highway traffic

| November 18, 2018 12:00 AM

SAGLE — A rash of accidents snarled traffic Saturday along Highway 95 south to Kootenai County. The first accident was reported in the 470000 block of Highway 95 near Brisboys Road in Sagle shortly after 2 p.m. By 3 p.m., emergency crews were alternating traffic to clear the backlog. Drivers were advised to expect delays and to exercise caution.

Social media accounts reported that one vehicle was on its side and traffic was backed up all the way into Sandpoint.

As crews worked to assist at the first accident, additional crews were dispatched about 5:30 p.m. to multiple accidents reported in the Granite Hill area on Highway 95 near Athol.

Bonner County Sheriff’s officials said Idaho State Police was investigating both accidents and was still on the scene of the Granite Hill crash at 7:30 p.m.

No additional information on either accident was available at press time.
