Tommie Casteel

| October 6, 2018 1:00 AM

On Sept. 28, 2018 Tommie Casteel left this world too early.

In his 2017, LPOHS graduation speech Tommie said he “wanted to be somebody people would remember, someone everyone knows.” He was that someone to so many. Tommie was a devoted grandson, son, nephew, and cousin. He spent happy days hunting and riding dirt bikes with his family.

Tommie was a caring boyfriend and a father figure to his beautiful girlfriend’s two children. He found joy in creating a happy home for them. Tommie was a kind, helpful and caring friend who spread laughter and love throughout our community and went out of his way to help those in need.

Tommie faced life’s challenges with a fearless heart. He struggled through childhood challenges to become one of the first in his family to graduate from high school. He discovered a passion for science research, especially water quality issues, and dreamed of a career in chemical engineering. When faced with the need to provide for those he loved, he postponed that dream and joined the workforce as a roofer. Tommie met those challenging days with smiles. He enjoyed working hard and ending each day with the people he loved and who loved him.

Tommie will be remembered with happy hearts by the many people whose lives he touched: his given and chosen families and his many friends.

A celebration to remember this special young man will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. on his family’s farm in Careywood, Idaho.
