Fitness class set for seniors

| October 7, 2018 1:00 AM

HOPE — A free Fit and Fall Proof program, sponsored by Panhandle Health District, will continue throughout the winter at Memorial Community Center in Hope.

The classes are ongoing and are held on Tuesday and Friday mornings, 10-11 a.m.

Fit and Fall Proof is a fitness program designed for older adults. The classes are designed to improve flexibility, mobility, balance and strength. The program is for all ability levels, from active seniors to those with existing mobility and balance problems.

Fit and Fall Proof instructors are older adult volunteers who are certified to teach by the health district. The classes in Hope are taught by Karen Mosiman, who has been teaching the Hope classes for over four years and says she loves what she does.

“This is a great way for seniors to stay in shape and keep moving through the long winter months,” Mosiman said. “Everyone in the class works at his or her own ability level, so participants don’t feel stressed or intimidated. We just try to have fun, keep moving and feel good about what we’re doing.”

Drop-ins and observers are welcome.
