SANDPOINT — Zander Moore netted two goals, giving him 10 on the season, to lead Sandpoint to a 2-0 win over Moscow in 4A Inland Empire League soccer on Saturday at Pine St. Field.

Moore broke a scoreless tie in the 65th minute on a penalty kick, after the referee determined a Moscow player was holding him during a corner kick. The second goal was hard earned, as Moore won a long ball from Teigen Edmundson out of the air, pivoted and blasted the ball past the Moscow keeper.

The Bulldogs (7-5, 4-0 4A IEL) earned the top seed and first round by in the upcoming 4A Region 1 tournament, which starts on Tuesday, and have handled the Bears (2-2 4A IEL) twice now.

“This was an important game for us, we wanted to make sure and impose our will and prove we’re the better team. We can’t let these two wins determine how we approach the championship for state,” said McNeley. “If we stay focused mentally, bring some energy and belief, we’ve got a good chance at getting to state.”
