Sandpoint Little League holding 2019 meeting this Thursday

| October 16, 2018 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — It’s October, which signifies the start of the 2019 Sandpoint Little League season, with a 2019 season meeting on tap Thursday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m. in room 102 of the Bonner County Library.

Many of you may not realize that in the middle of the fall sports season we’re already starting to plan for baseball and softball that won’t hit the fields until next spring, but that helps highlight the amount of work and preparation that goes into supporting each season.

Sandpoint Little League has grown to 360-plus players consistently the past four years and the SLL board would like to see that number continue to grow and the program improve. For that to happen, we need your help.

Each season many parents and grandparents volunteer to help coach or support the league in another volunteer role, but participation at the Board level is not growing along with the program, which has many of us filling multiple roles. This increases the opportunity for errors or just doesn’t allow us to pursue improvements due to a lack of resources.

This is an excellent opportunity to support your son or daughter and the league they enjoying being a part of. We have many open positions on the Board and in all cases there is an experienced Board member to help mentor new members who are joining so that you’re supported and not starting from scratch.

Your time commitment would normally be only one Board meeting a month, plus some extra time around your specific Board function like fundraising, sponsorship, volunteer coordination etc.

Please consider attending the Thursday meeting to learn more about the program and if it is something you would like to be involved with. It’s a great way to support your child’s interests and ensure this program stays strong for not only your player, but future participants as well.

If you have questions or would like to get involved but cannot attend this first meeting, please contact us at info@sandpointlittleleague.com and someone will be in touch with you.
