So, what's on your mind?

Today I would like to talk about our thought life.

The Bible tells us that what we think matters. The thing with our thoughts is that they can be harmful and cause a lot of trouble. Most of our problems are very much related to our thinking process. Aren’t you glad no one can read your thoughts? We usually don’t share our deep thoughts with anyone unless we really trust them. God understands how vulnerable we are in this area. That is why He instructs us to think on certain things.

Philippians 4:8 says: “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.”

There are a whole lot of things we can be focusing on but how much of it is really good? I know God created us, our mind included, for great things but we will never reach the abundant life if we don’t align our thought life with God’s truth and life. We are instructed to bring every thought captive to God, the promise is that if our minds are stayed on Him He will keep us in perfect peace!

Wow what an amazing promise! I know that our minds have a mind of their own sometimes, and we can really struggle with our thoughts. The good news is that there is hope! We can choose to only allow good things into our minds and renew our minds daily by repeating His truth to ourselves. Many of the thoughts that hurt us have been repeated to us over and over again. It is a lie that gets repeated so many times that we begin to assume it is true.

John 10:10 says: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

I would like to ask you a question. How is your thought life affecting you? Are your thoughts full of life and love? Are they full of fear and condemnation? Examine your thoughts don’t be robbed anymore. Christ came to give you abundant life. Don’t settle for anything less.

I would like to leave you with this verse today!

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on You,

Because he trusts in You.”
