I voted last week for Steve Lockwood. We need a level headed county commissioner in District 3 to replace a loose canon.

Commissioner Dan McDonald supported the previous boards, under Cary Kelly and Mike Nielsen, which decimated our legally accumulated reserve funds with many unnecessary remodeling projects and, in my opinion, other improper projects for which the reserves were not collected for.

Commissioner McDonald also said he saved the county in the neighborhood of reportedly $8 million in his first year of office, then had to cut the 2018-19 budget an additional $5 million to balance the budget. Fuzzy math? It doesn’t make sense.

Now he’s been quoted in the Daily Bee bashing Native Americans in the discussions on the smelter in Washington state. We need to elect someone who thinks before he speaks.

I am a registered Republican and Steve Lockwood is a Democrat, but we need a change in direction to stabilize our Bonner County government. A vote for Steve is a vote to do just that.
