SANDPOINT — Spooky (but not too spooky) fun will be on tap as the Bonner County History Museum gets ready to hosts its sixth Trick-or-Treat at the Museum at the museum next week.

On Oct. 31, the museum, in conjunction with the Sandpoint Lions Club, will host the annual event at the museum and Lion’s Den. The museum will be open from 4-7 p.m. for trick-or-treating and experiencing the museum decked out in its festive best. The Lion’s Den will have warm drinks and sweet treats for those needing a little break from the weather. Admission to both is free.

This year’s event is sponsored by Kaniksu Health Services, which supported the museum in purchasing enough treats to pass out on Halloween.

Trick-or-Treat at the Museum is a great way for the museum to fulfill its mission of history creating community, museum officials said.

“Every inch of the museum is tricked out in its Halloween best, while volunteers hand out candy and school supplies to our spooky visitors,” Cassi Marler, Bonner County History Museum coordinator said. “Each year the museum sees over 500 visitors on Halloween night.”

Founded in 1972, the Bonner County History Museum has been collecting and preserving the Bonner County region’s significant stories for over 40 years. The museum is located in view of Lake Pend Oreille in Lakeview Park. The park has many amenities including picnic areas, a playground, tennis courts, and the Native Plant Society arboretum. Adjacent to Lakeview Park is Memorial Field which has a boat launch and is home to the Festival at Sandpoint every August.
