Oct. 25, 1968 – PDST ENDS

Pacific Daylight Saving Time comes to an end at 2 a.m. Sunday, having served the area the past six months. This is the date that people receive the hour they lost last April when PDST began.

Clocks must be set back an hour. Not changing the clock will mean being up an hour too early, getting to church 60 minutes before everyone else, etc. The return to Standard time will mean that most daytime workers will go home from work when it is a little darker and yearn again for April when they can go back to “fast” time.

TREATMENTS FOR PNEUMONIA

Chop fine six onions; put over a hot fire, add vinegar and rye meal to form a thick paste. Stir, then simmer 5-10 minutes. Place in large cotton bag; apply to the chest as hot as can be borne. Change the poultice every 10 minutes and reheat. In hours the patient will be out of danger. This remedy never fails to cure this often fatal malady. Usually 2 – 3 applications will suffice, but continue until perspiration starts freely.

Another sure remedy for pneumonia is to pack the patient in hot corn until perspiration starts freely. After patient is placed between blankets, surround him with hot boiled corn on the cob.
