Mindi Glenise Shropshire, 50
Mindi Glenise Shropshire, 50, passed away at her home in Sagle, Idaho.
Mindi was born Nov. 22, 1967, to Cheryl Shropshire (O’Toole) and the late Glen Shropshire in Sandpoint, Idaho. She spent her early childhood in the loving home of her grandparents, Max and Berniece Pierce, her mother, and her big brother Phillip. She loved her grandparents dearly and always felt safe in their open home. Her mother and Phillip would always be her rock her entire life.
Life expanded for Mindi when her mom married Ken O’Toole and she became big sister to Molly (Frank) and Kelly (Wood). She loved taking care of them and helping her mom “being the little mama.” She attended Sagle Elementary and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1986. She was an avid skier, enthusiastic cheerleader, and an amazing gymnast during her teen years. Mindi loved horses and began showing draft horses at an early age. Her room was adorned with her many ribbons from fairs throughout the area. In high school she drove the downtown trolley through the streets of Sandpoint, confident and in control of two large Belgian draft horses. Another fun job she had when she was young was scooping ice cream from the Chilly Willy Ice Cream truck.
In 1987, Mindi was blessed with her first daughter, RayAnne Kucherry. RayAnne would be her first love followed by her son, Glen Jordan, and another daughter, Hailey Shropshire. A kid at heart, Mindi loved to play with her children, sledding, bonfires and laughing into the night, was a favorite.
Taking care of people was a genuine calling for Mindi, working as a caregiver to many handicapped and elderly people. She touched their lives as much as they touched hers. Her smile lit up the room and she was always ready to comfort and care for others.
Mindi loved her family and friends to no boundaries, believed in God, loved and cared for animals, gardened until she couldn’t walk straight, was stubborn as a mule and laughed and loved unconditionally.
Mindi is preceded in death by her father, Glen Shropshire; her grandparents, Max and Berniece Pierce, Jim and Millie Able, and Fred Shropshire; and cousins, Steven McDermott and Max Sisson.
She is survived by her mother, Cheryl O’Toole; stepfather, Ken O’Toole; children RayAnne Kucherry, Glen Jordan, and Hailey Shropshire; her brother, Phillip Shrophire; sisters, Molly Frank, and Kelly Wood; grandchildren, Taylor and Faith; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mindi’s life Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Garfield Bay picnic area. A potluck will follow, Mindi style; bring your beach chairs and memories to share.
May your spirit fly, Mindi, and you be at peace, into the waiting arms of your father, grandparents, cousins and friends in Heaven.
