1. I felt the need to serve the community. If pastors don’t get involved in local government, how can we expect others to? A true leader leads.

2. Have been an independent business owner since 1970. County commissioners are managers.

3. The smelter, budget, and services. The smelter will most probably be destructive to our economy, our environment and our health. The county is responsible for many services that are provided that should be provided with the reality of available funds.

4. The current commissioners have done a good job at reaching a balanced budget without a drop in services. I will continue to work that way.

5. My legacy would hopefully be the most transparent and honest and productive. I just want to do a good job and serve the people of Bonner County.

6. Getting started and constantly learning.

7. I think we need some transparency in our school board locally. More funding toward the school and less to administration. Too many unanswered questions in finance.

8. Another example of government trying to cram something down our throat. I am against it 100 percent.

9. Against it. Not being fully honest in disclosing it for what it is.

10. Against it. There was no gap before Obamacare was forced down our throat. Where is the funding coming from. Me and you. Healthcare will go up even more, as will our taxes.

11. All the county can do is follow the guidelines set by the state. Otherwise the state will intervene and do the assessing. Bad for all.

12. Very little the county can do about boats on public waterways without risk of multiple lawsuits.

13. Simple is better. There is a reason for codes and setbacks. They don’t have to be complex or “comprehensive,” but they do have to be based on facts, science and common sense.

14. They are doing a good job with the funding that’s available. There are always ways of improving efficiency.

15. I’m used to it. Criticism can be a good thing if it’s accurate and one is willing to evaluate it and apply it.

16. Drain the swamp. Make Bonner County great again.
