Delbert Lee Hathaway, 80, local barber, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint with Pastor Dave Barley officiating.
Del was born on October 12, 1938, in Constantine, Michigan, to Lester and Lulu Hathaway.
He grew up and attended schools in Sturgis, Michigan. Del served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the tail end of the Korean War.
Del married Wanda Matzen on June 6, 1970, in Anchor-age, Alaska. During his time in Alaska, he worked as a barber, pastor and bush pilot. Del moved to North Idaho in 1987 and operated B&D’s Barber Shop in Sandpoint.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gold mining, flying planes, and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hathaway of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; four children, Jonathan (Alena) Hathaway of Bonners Ferry, Matthew (Anna) Hathaway of Bonners Ferry, Daniel Hathaway of Post Falls, and Sara (KC) Posselt of Sandpoint; and 15 grandchildren.
