Wampus Cats rout Warriors

| September 1, 2018 1:00 AM

HARRISON FLATS — Dakota West rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns, and Cameron Garcia had a solid game at quarterback, passing for 93 yards and rushing for 87 and two scores to lead the Wampus Cats to a 42-6 thumping of the Warriors in North Star League football Friday night at Kootenai High School.

Theo Icardo added 66 yards rushing and two scores, as the Cats bounced back from a tough opener to win a game that will help in their playoff push.

“We played with a lot more discipline, weren’t penalized as much, took care of the ball. Our line blocked really well for our three-headed monster of Dakota, Josh Constantin and Theo,” praised Cats head coach Brian Arthun. “Defensively, we forced turnovers, the kids came out hitting hard tonight.”

Constantin had two sacks and a forced fumble, Garcia and Icardo each had a pick and Mathis Heisel forced and recovered a fumble to lead a strong defensive effort.
