Sandpoint Cornhole Classic tourney spots filling up fast

| September 4, 2018 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — If you’re thinking of playing in the upcoming Sandpoint Cornhole Classic on Saturday, Sept. 15, sign up quickly as the 124 spots in the American Cornhole League pro stop are filling up fast.

The registration deadline is Saturday, Sept. 8. Cost of the tournament is $30 per player for singles or doubles, and $50 to enter both. There will be a $10 late fee for any sign-ups after Sept. 8. You can sign up during working hours at A&Ps Bar and Grill.

Event organizer James Mize said it will be a fun time for anyone in the community, whether playing or not, to come down and enjoy a block of 1st Avenue that is being closed off for the tourney games and festivities. Adult beverages will be allowed outside, and assorted vendors will be on hand.

On Saturday, Sept. 8, MickDuff’s Brewing Company Beer Hall is hosting a cornhole tournament starting at 1 p.m. Mize will have a registration table set up at the tourney. The winner gets both cash, as well as a free entry in the Cornhole Classic the following week.

Top regional pros will be on hand at the Classic to earn ACL qualifying points for the nationals in Las Vegas. Mize hopes the event, which will pay out $1,000 to the winners in both singles and doubles, becomes a regular stop on the ACL pro tour. There is also a $1,000 bonus prize that will be awarded if a local wins the event.
