PRIEST RIVER — Scores of West Bonner County School District students are starting the school year on the right foot thanks to Angels Over Sandpoint.

The group distributed 152 backpacks and 152 bags of school supplies at Priest River Lamanna High School on Aug. 29, according to Wendi Belding of Angels Over Sandpoint.

It’s the second year Angels Over Sandpoint has distributed backpacks to West Bonner County School District.

“It was crazy because we went over double last year,” said Belding, who distributed the packs and supplies with her daughter, Karleigh, and PRLHS Principal Joe Kren.

Belding said around 60 bags were distributed in 2017.

Five bags went unclaimed and were donated to the high school’s homeless students. Other kids who just needed school supplies donated their backpacks.

“We had at least 12 kids do that,” said Belding.
