| September 5, 2018 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Chris Koch netted a hat trick, and the Bulldogs scored four first half goals to take down the Hawks in a 4A Inland Empire League boys soccer opener on Tuesday at Pine St. Field.

Sims Macdonald added a goal and an assists, and Ryan Geise dished out two dimes to lead the Bulldogs (3-2, 1-0 4A IEL), who posted their third consecutive shutout by dominating the possession on their half of the pitch.

“Defensively, we’re difficult to break down,” said Bulldog head coach Evan McNeley. “Getting the league win in a pretty good fashion, we can hold our heads high. We worked hard to win the knockdowns, and the finishing was great.”

Lakeland (0-6, 0-1 4A IEL) had trouble stopping the Bulldogs’ attack, with goalie Bradley Munson stopping nine shots, including a few diving saves, to keep the game from getting worse.
