Paving prep to cause closures

SANDPOINT ­­— Cedar Street will have occasional closures today as contractors prepare for paving.

City officials said grading work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. and should be complete by noon on Saturday. The road will be open to motorist but heavy equipment and lane closures may create short-term congestion, Public Works Director Amanda Wilson said in an email. No work is planned on Sunday.

Paving will occur Monday and Tuesday nights beginning at 6 p.m. Cedar Street will be closed and no parking allowed beginning at 5 p.m. on those days. The evening road closures will impact all blocks between Second and Fifth avenues.

Similar to recent downtown events, temporary signs will be in place to help communicate parking time limits to motorists, she said.
