Youth coed flag football on tap

SANDPOINT — Any and all area 3rd-8th graders interested in playing in the Sandpoint Parks and Rec youth flag football league need to sign up by the registration deadline of Sunday, Sept. 9. You can register online at www.sandpointidaho.gov/parksrecreation.

Play is split into 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grade teams. Practices will be held once a week with games played on Saturday mornings at Travers Park. Practices start the week of Sept 17. Coaches will call players for practice days/times. Games will begin Saturday, Sept. 26 and play through Oct. 31.

The league is six man Alligator format. Mouth guards are required, one mouth guard will be provided to each player. A red/white reversible nylon mesh sports jersey is required and may be purchased at the Parks & Recreation Department if needed. Adults interested in coaching the philosophies of fun, fundamentals and sportsmanship are needed.

Games will begin on Saturday, Sept. 22 and play through Oct. 27. Fees for one player are $38 county/$33 city; two players are $66 county/$56 city; and three players are $89 county/$79 city. Jerseys are $14 and can be purchased at Parks and Rec. Scholarships are available on a need basis.
