Lawrence Blanchard’s letter (Daily Bee, Aug. 28, 2018) denies the concept of anthropogenic global warming by appealing to The Petition Project. So I looked the project up and found it thoroughly discredited, with the study by Snopes being perhaps the most useful synopsis:

As an aside, I’ll quote Andrew Nikiforuk’s address to his fellows at a recent protest against the Canadian government’s purchase of the Trans Mountain Pipeline, “Politicians who think they can solve the climate change crisis by expanding hydrocarbon production have become terrorists in our communities, anarchists in our oceans and arsonists in our forests.” Andrew Nikiforuk is an award-winning journalist who has been writing about the energy industry for two decades.

My own view of the honest and well-meaning members of the general public who disbelieve in anthropogenic global warming is that they are dupes.
