Sept. 11, 1968 — BRIDAL SHOWER

Misses Susan and Karen Knaggs hostessed a bridal shower honoring Miss Marilyn Shields Sept. 2 at the Knaggs residence. The bride’s maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Foster, was a surprise guest. Other guests were Mrs. Arthur Shields, Mrs. Denny Shields, Mrs. George Falk of Priest River, Mrs. Carol Drew of Boise, Mrs. Ralph Plank, Mrs. Rose Maxwell, Mrs. Lois Hall, Mrs. Lois Hickey, Mrs. Nancy Anderson, Mrs. Eunice Knaggs, Mrs. Joyce Robinson, Gail Falk, Patty Knaggs, Jacki Hickey and Cindy Shields. Miss Shields will wed Dean E. Falk Sept. 7.

CEDAR ST. BRIDGE GETS REPAIRS

Sandpoint city employees are still working on bridges.

Cedar street span on Sand creek developed a shaky approach between Sprouse Reitz Variety and Dalby’s Enco station at the bridge’s First Ave. end. Planks and deck paving had to be repaired for several feet out on the bridge. Last week the crew repaired stringers and planks next to the service station on the bridge’s south lane.

The span has been receiving heavier traffic since extra restrictions went on the Bridge street bridge. Plans are to work on the Bridge street span this month and repair three dangerous caps. Once that is done, the crossing should last until a new bridge can be built.

O.M. Jennestad of J.L. & Co. has purchased a seven-passenger Mitchell car.

Judge Flynn has issued a mandate to the Interstate Telephone company to either put in telephone service for R.M. McMillan at his residence or appear in court and show cause why said service should not be furnished him.

Dr. McKinnon took the medical and physical examination in Spokane yesterday for entrance into the army medical corps. He found that a large number of physicians are at Camp Lewis and unless he sees a prospect of more immediate service abroad than at present indicated, he will not accept a commission.

… to gain time for the Red Cross. Today’s housewife is confronted by two obligations - one to home and family - the other to country.

It will enable you to do your own housework and have ample time for Red Cross and other necessary work of the war auxiliaries.

Electric Vacuum Cleaners, Washing Machines, Irons, Ranges, Table Appliances, Heaters, Toilet accessories, etc. All will help lighten the work.
