It’s been a real joy for me to be a member of this little North Idaho community for all of my life, which is quite a long time. I’ve also been a paid-up member and officer or board member of several clubs and organizations for many years.
Now I find that a few years back I must have done something really unthinkable to a fellow member. I have had to tolerate an untold amount of unpleasant happenings from this person. Among other things: several years ago said person was instrumental in firing me from a volunteer job at a thrift store. Now, somehow, I wasn’t registered this year as a paid-up member of one organization. If the tables were turned I would have notified said person that their dues were not paid if felt that was the case. However, others were asked to pay so they could be on the nominating committee and also on the ballot.
I couldn’t participate in a recent poorly conducted election because I wasn’t registered. This so-called election was rushed through, skipping several important steps according to Roberts Rules of Order and the organization by-laws.
I’m truly sorry to have caused said person so much pain by the awful, unthinkable thing that I must have done.
After the election, I was invited by said person to now “pay my dues and come and enjoy.” Enjoy? Now, let me see, am I missing something. Good reading: Isaiah 58:6-12 and 2 Corinthians 4:8-18.
