Wampus Cats sweep Tigers

| September 12, 2018 1:00 AM

CLARK FORK — Ellie Kiebert tallied eight kills, Hailey Bristol six kills and three aces, and Sophie McMahon five kills and two aces to lead the Wampus Cats to a 25-2, 25-10, 25-8 dispatching of Mullan in North Star League volleyball Tuesday Night at Clark Fork High School.

Ali Sutton had a huge serving night with a team-high seven aces, and Brooke Stevens posted 18 set assists and five aces for the Cats (5-4, 1-0 NSL), who settled into league play after a tough spate of matches.

Stevens, Ali Sutton and McMahon all had huge service runs to start each set, and the Tigers had trouble getting into points against one of the better North Star League teams in recent memory. Abbie Anderson, Ellie Lambert and Alleehia Valliere anchored the back row defense.

“We just need to focus on the job to be done and get it done,” said Cats head coach Cindy Derr. “I think it took a little time for the girls adjusting back to league play after playing in the Lakeland tournament, but they had a great team effort tonight.”

Clark Fork is at Lakeside on Thursday night, then the Knights come to Clark Fork on Saturday (JV match starts at 1 p.m.) in a change in schedule.
