Troopers update crash information
CLARK FORK — Idaho State Police are now saying a passenger killed in a head-on crash last week was wearing his seatbelt.
Jamy L. McCoy, a 57-year-old from Cape Canaveral, Fla., was a passenger in a 1994 Nissan Sentra driven by Vicki Sue Dettwiler, 39, of Clark Fork who was northbound on East Spring Creek Road on Wednesday, Sept. 12, when she crossed into the opposing lane of travel while attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve and collided with a southbound 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck. Dettwiler, a 39-year-old from Clark Fork, was killed, as was passenger Jamy L. McCoy, a 57-year-old from Cape Canaveral, Fla.
ISP said in the updated press release that Dettwiler, formerly known as Vicki Hunter, was not wearing a seatbelt. However, McCoy, and two of the three juveniles also in the car were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The driver of the pickup Kyler A. Burnham, 21, of Sandpoint, was reportedly uninjured in the collision.
The crash occurred in the 500 block of the East Spring Creek at approximately 5:31 p.m., according to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office. The collision closed the road for approximately three hours.
