‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor?’

‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor?’ presents the history of Fred McFeely Rogers. Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom), takes an intimate look at America’s favorite neighbor. A portrait of a man whom we all think we know, this emotional and moving film takes us beyond the zip-up cardigans and the land of make-believe, and into the heart of a creative genius who inspired generations of children with compassion and limitless imagination.

Venue: Panida Little Theater, 304 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

This beautifully shot film follows the filmmaker and her mother as they embark on a very personal and poignant investigative journey to find out why genetically modified organisms are not labeled on food products in the U.S. and Canada, despite being labeled in 64 countries around the world. Interweaving the personal and the political, the film is anchored in the filmmaker’s relationship to her mom, a gardener and food activist who battled cancer during the film’s production.

Social Dance

Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-10 p.m.

Come discover the fun tradition of social dancing and celebrate Ballroom Dancing Week. This dance starts with a Fox Trot lesson will be taught by a local professional instructor from 7-8 p.m., followed by general dancing, refreshments, door prizes, mixers and more. Singles and couples are welcome.

The 219 presents another great night of live comedy featuring Greg Kettner and headliner Kirk Fox with Morgan Preston as host. After the show, Sandpoint’s very own local’s favorite, Harold’s IGA, fresh off performing at the Sandpoint Music Festival, will be playing on the patio until midnight.

Edison - singer/guitarist Sarah Slaton, multi-instrumentalist, Dustin Morris, and Grammy-nominated guitarist, Maxwell Hughes (formerly of The Lumineers) - is an indie rock trio from Colorado that has quickly emerged as a musical force. While the band is relatively new, the trio has gained a following, mainly through the impact of their dynamic live performances.
