LEWISTON — Senior Grace Hicks posted a monster triple-double, helping Sandpoint earn a hard-fought 25-18, 26-24, 22-25, 21-25, 18-16 win over 5A Lewiston on Saturday in nonleague volleyball at Lewiston High School.

Hicks finished with 21 kills, 15 blocks and 24 digs, showing the ability to play both rows and helping the Bulldogs (11-5) score a third straight win over a 5A opponent, after beating Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene.

“It was a great day, they played with a lot of tenacity and perseverance. They just kept on keeping on, which has been our signature up to this point,” said Bulldog head coach Jeff Hurst. “They just keep the pressure on the other team point after point, contact after contact and wear the other team down.”

Gabby Hicks and Marina Breuner were both huge at the net defensively, each stuffing nine blocks to help thwart the Bengals’ attack. The Bulldogs’ defense combined for 83 digs in the match, helping keep big points alive, and the team finished with 43 kills on 148 attempts.

Sandpoint is at the Linda Sheridan Classic on Saturday in Spokane.
