SANDPOINT — Wow — what a week! There really is something for everybody as we prepare to close the books on September and move into fall.

Tonight, check out the Right for Bonner County concert at the Heartwood Center and the Manhattan Short film festival at the Panida. Saturday brings Sadie Sicilia on stage for an incredible show at the Panida, plus the pure funk of RFB at MickDuff’s Beer Hall. Also Saturday, a Sip & Shop with a variety of live music in support of local non-profit, Musical For Life.

Thursday, Sept. 27

Manhattan Short Film Festival

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Manhattan Short has announced the Final Nine selections for its 21st annual Short Film Festival, taking place in over 350 venues across six continents. Manhattan Short is the only event of its kind. The Final Nine are screened simultaneously across the world during a one-week period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue.

Right for Bonner County Concert for Steve Lockwood

Venue: The Heartwood Center, 614 Oak St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-9 p.m.

A concert in support of Steve Lockwood for Commissioner, featuring Harold’s IGA, The Paranormal Daves, Folk Remedy and Doug Bond. Come meet Steve, enjoy some music, and get active in this year’s election.

Admission: Free and open to the public, however, a $10 donation is appreciated.

Yappy Hour

Venue: Eichardt’s Pub, 212 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 4-7 p.m.

Bring your dog and enjoy a Panhandle Animal Shelter benefit with music, beverages, and fun.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

‘Nutcracker’ Dance Auditions

Venue: Danceworks, 409 N. Fourth Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Baby Mice (ages 5-7): 4-4:30 p.m.; Angels (ages 7-9) 4:30-5 p.m.; Bon Bons (ages 9-11) 5-6 p.m.; Party Children (ages 11-15) 6-7 p.m.; Waltz (3 years pointe) 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Arrive 30 minutes early to register. Appropriate class attire required. Must be available for all rehearsals and performances.

Pinot, Pilsner and The Pearl Wine & Beer Walk

Venue: Pearl Theater, 7160 Ash St., in Bonners Ferry.

Time: 5 p.m.

This outrageous night where the undead roam the streets starts at the Georgia Mae Plaza, wanders through town and ends at the Pearl Theater for live music. Costumes encouraged but not required.

Friday, Sept. 28

Manhattan Short Film Festival

Mostly Harmless

This trio crushes it with a tasty mix of tunes that fit right into your personal playlist.

The Riff Hangers

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301, Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Muffy and the Riff Hangers always show us a good time. Their country, blues and swing will have you tapping your feet.

Joseph Hein Band

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

On tour and hailing from the Palouse of Eastern Washington Joseph Hein sings honestly about good times and the bad and his music bears witness to the road unkempt and a winding trail.

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

RFB & Oktoberfest

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30-9:30 p.m.

RFB (aka Right Front Burner) is back at the Beer Hall for the first time in four years. RFB is Sandpoint’s finest party band featuring funk, disco, rock and groovy tunes. Known as the Inland Northwest Funkiest Band, RFB has the power to make your booty shake and get your groove on.

Saturday, Sept. 29

Sadie Sicilia

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors open at 6 p.m., concert starts at 7 p.m.

Performed in two acts, this memorable night of music begins with Sadie accompanied by stellar pianist Desiree on blues, jazz and soul, with the second act rolling the singer-songwriter out in front of her band, The Reckoning, for a dose of funk and rock ‘n’ roll.

Oak Street Connection

Venue: Sandpoint Farmers Market, Farmin Park, Third Ave. & Oak St., downtown Sandpoint.

Time: Market starts at 9 a.m., music from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Ponderay Neighbor Day

Venue: Behind the Hoot Owl Café on Highway 200, in Ponderay.

Time: 1-6 p.m.

Back by popular demand, the city of Ponderay and Friends of Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail host the second Ponderay Neighbor Day community carnival.

‘Red Light, Green Light’

Venue: Panida Little Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7 p.m.

Inside Out and Hope Films brings ‘Red Light, Green Light’ to the Panida Little Theater as they actively fight human trafficking in Idaho. Two filmmakers travel across 10 countries to explore the issue and attempt to answer the question: ‘How can we prevent sexual exploitation before it happens in the first place?’

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Harold’s IGA & The Other White Meat

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: Hoptoberfest starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 11 p.m., 2:30 p.m. for Harold’s IGA, 6:30 p.m. for The Other White Meat

The fifth annual Hoptoberfest is on the books at the Beer Hall. New this year, two fall seasonal taster trays featuring Wet Hop beers, plus fall festives like Pumpkin and Oktoberfest. It will be a day of fun and games with cornhole, hammerschlagen and more.

Musical For Life Sip & Shop

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301, Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 4-8 p.m.

Lots of live music in store! Musical for Life is a Sandpoint nonprofit organization whose goal is to provide lessons and instruments to kids in need. With generous sponsorships, they help provide music lessons and instruments to children who desire to learn music. Pend d’Oreille Winery will donate a portion of sales to the organization.

Mudslide Charley

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

This five-piece powerhouse provides an energetic music experience that will make you want to dance all night. Drawing inspiration from an era when Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker first fused the rough and rural vibes of southern acoustic blues with modern electric instruments.

Sunday, Sept. 30

There’s only one Peter Lucht and his musical talent is always inspiring and uplifting. Hear him play on the winery’s stunning, historic 1870 Decker Brothers concert grand piano.

Truck Mills Blues Jam

Beer Hall Bingo

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Bingo is back at the Beer Hall and don’t forget, it’s free, just like the popcorn! The longer you stay, the more cards you get. Bring your own markers (not dobbers) like M&Ms, Skittles, pennies, etc. Every game is different and last game starts at 8 p.m. Prizes for the lucky winners.

Browne Salmon
