Bill McIntuff was born March 4, 1947, in Berkeley, Calif., to William J. McInturff and Margaret (Beale) McInturff. He passed away March 20, 2019, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Bill lived and went to elementary and high school in Pasadena, Calif., where he excelled in football. After high school he enrolled in Pepperdine where he attended for a year and a half. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve and married LeNelle Martin in 1966. He was called to active duty during the Vietnam War on Oct. 12, 1967, and served on the USS Bryce Canyon where he received a National Defense Service Medal.

In 1973 Bill and LeNelle moved to Moscow, Idaho, where Bill went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. They had two daughters, Lisa Diane and Debbie Lynne. Bill and LeNelle were divorced in 1981 and Bill moved to Sand-point. He transferred to the U.S. post office in Sandpoint and became the officer in charge there. He met Sharon Coulter in the summer of 1986 and they were married on July 25, 1987. They lived on Fry Creek for a period of time and then bought a house on Bottle Bay Road. Bill continued to work for the Postal Service for 31 years and spent the last five years of his career as the post master at Priest River.

Bill was a big fan of racing in the 1960s and 1970s and ran his own cars in the drag races. Then came his love for NASCAR. His daughters Lisa and Debbie took him to the NASCAR races in Bristol, Tenn., in 2015.

Bill retired in January 2004. When his wife Sharon retired from the school district in Sandpoint in August 2004 they sold their home on Bottle Bay Road, bought a 5th wheel trailer and traveled all winter of 2004-2005 down to Arizona and all across New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana to as far as Mississippi.

When Bill and Sharon returned in the spring of 2005 they bought a home in Leisure Park in Hayden, Idaho. Bill worked for a short period of time transporting Burlington Northern crews and then went to work part-time for the next 15 years at the Links Golf Club in Post Falls, Idaho, in the Pro Shop. He made many friends there over the years and ran the Wednesday Night Men’s League.

Bill and Sharon continued to travel the country during the fall and winters, visiting many National Parks and places of interest across the Southwest.

Bill was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’ Alene, the Link’s Golf Club in Post Falls and the Elks No. 1376 in Sandpoint.
