April blossoms with the sweetest of entertainment

SANDPOINT – Ah, the sweetness of April! There’s a decided change in the air and all sorts of things to do here in Sandpoint to celebrate spring weather.

Feel like singing? Check out Sandpoint Community Sing tonight at Downtown Yoga. The Panida starts screening the incredible film, ‘Apollo 11’ tonight and running through the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday, party at Schweitzer as the mountain wraps up the season with its ‘Shpring Finale’ two-day blast. Friday and Saturday, there’s a writers’ workshop at First Presbyterian Church and a short drive west will take you to the ‘Northwoods Unleashed!’ dinner theater variety show at the Circle Moon Theater near Newport, Wash.

‘Apollo 11’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Edifying and inspiring in equal measure, Apollo 11 uses artfully repurposed and some never seen before archival footage to send audiences soaring back to a pivotal time in American history.

Sandpoint Community Sing

Venue: Downtown Yoga, 301 Cedar St., #106, in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-8:30 p.m.

Sandpoint Community Sing is a journey of songs about nature, life, love, emotions, activism, peace and the overall human experience. Songs are taught in the oral tradition of call and response. No singing or musical experience is necessary. Led by Kristine Rae.

He’s a longtime local with a great sound you’ve probably heard with his band Harold’s IGA.

Open Mic Night

Time: Doors open at 6 p.m., performances start at 7 p.m.

Remember the old Ed Sullivan Show? That’s exactly the format you’ll experience at the 10th Annual Unleashed show by Northwoods Performing Arts. Director Terri L. Caldwell is organizing all manner of unbridled fun through skits, song and surprises.
