Jeremy Conlin (“What is being taught …” Daily Bee, March 19, 2019) asks if the SHS environmental science class is getting a one-sided, unbalanced view of anthropogenic climate change; that is climate change due to man’s activities on Earth. The answer is a resounding yes.Yes, they are only getting half the story. Yes, for two generations global warming, now climate change, has been jammed down the throats of students at government-run schools without one shred of supporting evidence.

Of concern should be the strange relationship between the local school district and Citizens Climate Lobby, a private organization which has wormed its way onto the stage and inserted itself into the school’s curriculum. No one seemed concerned when CCL offered a ridiculous $1,000 reward for the best student poster reflecting the need to rid the atmosphere of carbon dioxide. Using the twin tools of fear and computer modeling, CCL offers absolutely no proof to support their claim of chaotic weather caused by C02. Their stated philosophy is “we don’t need fossil fuels.” Yet, for all their talk about climate change they are unable able to pinpoint exactly where on the planet the climate has actually changed. CCL expects us to believe that a tasteless, harmless, odorless gas which comprises less than one half of one percent (.05 percent) of the atmosphere is responsible for all manner of weather anomolies such as droughts, floods, and hotter, longer-burning forest fires. How nutty do you have to be to say that carbon dioxide in a pressurized can is used to put out fires, but when it is in the atmosphere it causes fires to burn hotter and longer? Yet this absurdity is being taught in our schools. The hidden agenda behind Citizens Climate Lobby is the destruction of the U.S. economy through a Barnum & Bailey tax scam guaranteed to crash the stock market and send our currency plummeting on world markets.

I believe the community deserves an explanation from the school board as to how and why this organization is allowed to force their views onto untrained, scientifically illiterate, and impressionable school children. Or does the school board endorse this blatant subterfuge?
