I feel compelled, once again, to respond to Mr. Cort Gibbon’s letter (Daily Bee, April 7, 2019). I entirely grant him his opinions but I am curious why he is continually sowing seeds of doubt into innocent endeavors. Perhaps he would take me up on my invitation to have tea together.

Last year, the Idaho Legislature confirmed new curriculum standards to educate our kids about the changing climate — a term that was a compromise as climate change/warming was not deemed appropriate by conservatives. That means that the law is requiring that the causes and environmental impacts of air pollution — including CO2 pollution — is being taught to our children, as it is nationally.

Citizens Climate Lobby, a national, bipartisan, non-profit organization advocating for viable changing climate solutions, encouraged SHS science students to create research posters about this topic, which by the way are currently displayed at Evans Brothers Coffee and will be displayed in the library during Earth Week. They represent a wonderful exhibition of creativity, curiosity, and innovation of our young people who are concerned about their future. Idaho Forest Group supported that endeavor by donating $1,000 for prizes as a motivation. I think as s community we can be proud of all of this.

I hereby invite Mr. Gibbons, and anyone else who has doubts about the concerns regarding the changing climate to my upcoming presentation at the Bonner County Library during earth week. “Doubting Climate? Sorting Facts from Fiction” on April 16 at 5:30 p.m.
