So, the school levy passed but I’d like to point out a few things:

Coeur d’Alene with 11,000 students has a levy of $40 million for 2 years while LPOSD, with 3,900 students, has a levy of $25.4 million for two years.

Coeur d’Alene spends $3,636 for two years per student or $1,818 for one year versus Sandpoint’s $6,513 for two years per student or $3,257 per year. Plus Coeur d’Alene is rated “above average.”

Seems to me the superintendent and chief financial officer of LPOSD are master manipulators of a gullible public.

The rich won’t feel it and the elderly will get tax breaks through the circuit breaker program, if eligible, so the ones that will be impacted the most will be the middle class worker. Especially renters since they won’t have a homeowners exemption and the property will be taxed according to the full accessed value which more than likely will be passed down to the tenant.

Maybe Sandpoint needs to hire Coeur d’Alene school district’s chief financial officer?
