FLC sets Easter services

| April 12, 2019 1:00 AM

The community is invited to join the First Lutheran Church congregation at their upcoming Easter events.

On Palm Sunday, April 14, the congregation gives witness to the story of Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem proclaiming justice for the oppressed, as well as justice, peace and rest for the weary of this world.

On Maundy Thursday, April 18, the focus is on “Reconnecting With An Unhurried God” 6:30 p.m. Gather around the Lord’s Supper, the meal Jesus offered His disciples during their last Passover together. Jesus knew it was His last … how would we spend our time if we knew there was not much time left?

On Good Friday, April 19, the congregation will hold the “Stations of the Cross.” Good Friday draws us into the heart of Jesus’ passion, His suffering and death for our salvation. Time at the cross frees us from death and sin so we may find room to live into the promises of a resurrected life.Come any time between noon and 6 p.m. to walk the way of Jesus through Scripture, art, prayer stations, and individual reflection. Enter through the Ontario Street doors. Signage and booklets will lead participants into and through the stations placed around the worship space.

On Easter Sunday, April 21, the congregation welcomes the community to join them at a potluck brunch from 8:30-9:45 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will take place at 9 a.m. and all are invited to gather in the fellowship hall for a story followed by instruction for the Easter egg hunt. Worship service will begin at 10 a.m. and the community is invited to come celebration the Risen Lord with special music, Holy Communion and the promise of new life.
