Notice of Availability of Draft Environmental Assessment for Proposed Improvements at the Sandpoint Airport; Sandpoint, Idaho Bonner County and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announce that a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and the Council of Environmental Quality (CEQ) guidelines to analyze the potential environmental impacts of proposed improvements to the Sandpoint Airport. The federal regulatory agency with jurisdiction over civil aviation is the FAA, which must review and approve all proposed facilities and development on airport property to ensure compatibility with safe airport operations. Bonner County proposes to undertake airport improvements at the Sandpoint Airport that include: reconstruction and shift of the existing Runway 2/20; construction of two new parallel taxiways; construction of an additional apron area; land acquisition to protect the runway approaches and for airfield construction; relocation of North Boyer Avenue and associated right-of-way fencing outside of the runway object free area; additional hangar construction; and, the construction of additional roads and parking areas. The Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) will be available for public review for a period of 30 days at the East Bonner County Library (1407 Cedar Street, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864) and at the Sandpoint Airport Office (1101 Airport Way, Sandpoint Idaho 83864) during their business hours from April 12, 2019 through May 12, 2019.
