Sandpoint Future fourth grade boys team win first tournament

The Sandpoint Future fourth grade boys AAU team celebrate after winning the Rally in the Valley Tournament. The boys went undefeated in the tournament by rallying from being down 13 points in the second half to force overtime and defeat the host Silver Valley Wildcats 32-28 in the opening game.

In the second game against North Idaho Elite, they rallied again from being down 18-8 at halftime and then rolling in the second half to another 32-28 victory. nd finally in the Championship Game against North Idaho Elite, the boys came out with a tenacious in-your-face defense from the start to force multiple turnovers, build a solid lead at halftime and then pull away for a 41-19 victory.

Steady guard play by Knox Williams and Andrew Aexel set the tone for the tournament, most notably with Brock Yarbrough and Derrick Chamberlain leading the scoring and controlling the boards. Landon Brinkmeier and Damian Porter were causing havoc by creating multiple turnovers, along with Logan Iverson and Joey Allen getting in on the scoring. The boys played solid in the Post Falls and Hayden Leagues this year.
