AGOF Sandpoint (A Game of Fakes) recently placed second in the Stars Shootout, held in Spokane.

The team is comprised of ladies ranging from eighth to tenth grade, including Tru Tomco, Kelsey Cessna, Daylee Driggs and Karlie Banks (eighth graders whom are part of the Sandpoint Bombers AAU team); lone freshman Destiny Lyons; and sophomores Kaylee Banks, Bella Phillips and Riley Cessna, a trio who recently wrapped up seasons playing for Sandpoint High School. The entire roster started out on the Sandpoint Arsenal — the first girls AAU team out of Sandpoint.

On day one, AGOF defeated the Spokane Stars 49-32 in the first game then went on to beat NW Express out of Moses Lake 51-34. On day two game one was another win over the Spokane Fever 43-38, setting AGOF up for the championship game. AGOF lost to the Northwest Blazers 64-31 in a game in which they fought hard, but just couldn’t get their shots to fall.

All in all, the team played well despite having very little practice time together, since most of them are competing in spring sports. AGOF is coached by Katie Tomsha and Jim Banks.
