ITA sets trail work project

| April 16, 2019 1:00 AM

The Idaho Trails Association is looking for volunteers to help do maintenance work on Saturday, April 27 on the English Point Trail No. 80 in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest. Volunteers will clean out water bars, cutting back brush, cleaning mud off bridges, and doing other “spring cleaning” chores.

The English Point trail system includes easy loops through forest terrain on the west side of Hayden Lake. This trail is a great early season walk and is very popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. The English Point Trail is a National Recreation Trail.

This and other trails on public lands belong to everyone, ITA officials said in a press release.

“Our hiking trails need our help to stay open for future generations,” said Howard Shay of the ITA.

Volunteers will use hand tools provided by the ITA to do light work. Experienced ITA personnel will provide skills training and instruction. Everyone should bring work gloves, sturdy shoes, lunch, and water.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the trailhead on English Point Road just off of East Lancaster Road.
