Sandpoint Little League's Opening Day is Saturday

| April 17, 2019 1:00 AM

The snow is gone and the fields are dry (well, almost), which means it’s time for the 35th season of Little League in Sandpoint.

This Saturday at Travers’ Park marks the start of a new season with the Opening Day Ceremony on Field 1 at noon.

The ceremony will introduce family and fans to all 33 local teams and will include a live performance of our national anthem with a color guard, reciting of the Little League Pledge and the ceremonial first pitch by Cooper Vierra, the very first Challenger player to represent Sandpoint Little League three seasons ago.

The ceremony will be followed by the featured softball game between the two SLL Juniors’ level teams: S.W.A.T. versus Stealer.

Additional baseball and softball games will be played all day long starting as early as 9:30 and ending around 4:00 p.m. at both Travers’ and Little Pine fields. Concessions will be provided all day, starting at 8:00 a.m. Throwing competitions will be held at Higgy’s Cages and team pictures will be offered throughout the day as well.
