MCT's 'Blackbeard the Pirate' sailing into town

What starts as a lazy day at the beach quickly turns into mystery and adventure when the search for Blackbeard’s treasure begins. The cast of colorful characters played by our own local school children will reveal the secrets of untold riches as Pend Oreille Arts Council once again hosts Missoula Children’s Theatre and this year’s production of Blackbeard the Pirate.

Performances will be on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Panida. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for youth ages 18 and under, and are available at www.artinsandpoint.org, panida.org, Eve’s Leaves, Winter Ridge and at the Panida box office a half hour before curtain.

The question is where did Blackbeard, played by Asah Shackelford, hide the treasure? Certainly Bluebeard, Fletcher Barett; Redbeard, Nia Gadson; Greybeard, Dustin Borges; Yellowbeard, Cougar Shorman and Peachfuzz, Owen Hedgecock are keen to find out.

Also in the hunt are Beach Bums, Thoreau Desjarlais, Beatrice Halsted, Jadelynn Beckett,

Threnody Hammond, Logan Jones, Odin Clark and Lieutenant Maynard, Katelyn Abbott. Do the Sailors, Kodiak Ellis, Addison Leister, Clarice Halsted, Ellie Craemer, Kiera Orr, Sif Gadson, Hayden Jones and Rowen Childers know where “x” marks the spot?

Or maybe the scary Seaweed Creatures played by Wilhelm Anderson, Mazie Miles, Liam Childers, Eliana Manning, Adeo McGehee know where the treasure is hiding. But, will the precocious Parrots, Claire Hunton, Dylan Mae Halsted, Evan Halsted, Kourtney Riffel, Kestrel McLaren, Fiona Naples, Brenna Gadson, Norah Leister or the cantankerous Crocodiles, Syrinnia Moon, Nolan Owens lead the way? And, what does Sam the Clam, Jadon Shackelford know about all of this?

Can we trust a group of crabby Crabs, Hunter Borges, Rafael McGehee, Lily Brewster, Alexander Halsted, Lily Hunton or the melodious Mermaids, Maya Wilson, Medea Moon, Makiyah Hagstrom, Caitlin Hunton, Ella Olson, Constance Riffel, Fate Coon, Riley Borges, Maggie McClure?

Under the supervision of MCT’s talented directors, Sarah Price and Lindsey Wayne, locals Kael Olson, Emma Schmitt, Allana Halsted, and Joaquin McGehee will assist behind the scenes.

Auditions were held Monday afternoon and these talented actors have been rehearsing all week to put the fine point on this musical production. You won’t want to miss it, so get your tickets today.
